Help
What to expect from a beta, and how to tell me when something is wrong.
Before the beta
There is no public install image yet, so there is nothing to install and nothing to ask for help with. When there is, the Download page says so first, and this page gains the hardware notes for each supported machine.
A beta is a beta. It will have bugs, some of them in your way. What I promise is that every bug you send gets read, that an update never takes your computer away from you, and that the rollback from the login window works.
Reporting a bug
Write to kyleblizzard@me.com with Hiyu bug in the subject. One bug per message. Include:
- Which machine, and the build number from About This Computer.
- What you did, step by step, from a fresh login if you can.
- What you expected, and what happened instead.
- A screenshot or a short recording when the problem is on screen.
- The report from Diagnostics, or the lines from Console around the time it happened. Both apps copy a report with one command.
What happens next: I read every one. I answer the ones I can act on, and the fix arrives through Software Update with a note that names it. If I cannot reproduce it, I will ask you for more, once.
Reporting a security problem
If you find a security problem in Hiyu OS or on this site, tell me before you tell anyone else: kyleblizzard@me.com with Hiyu security in the subject. The same address is in security.txt.
I answer within two days and fix within ninety. When the fix ships, the note credits you by the name you choose, or not at all if you prefer. I will not take legal action against research done in good faith against your own machine or this site.
Ways to help
- Use it when there is something to use, and send the bugs.
- Tell a friend if the direction matters to you. Word of mouth is enough. There is no press kit and no affiliate link.
- Build an app, a theme or an extension when the door opens. Development says how apps are made.
